Mise is a cost, stock and purchasing app for professional kitchens on iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and Android; the same Mise account works on both. Your recipes, ingredients, stock movements, suppliers and the information extracted from your documents are stored on your device. You do not need an account to use the app, and your phone number is never requested. To use Community, Messages and the AI features (document reading, Mise Sous Chef, speech replies) you create an optional Mise account with an email address; your kitchen data is not uploaded to that account, and you can delete the account from inside the app.

The AI features require an account: the command text when you give Mise Sous Chef a command (also written to an anonymous question log, see section 4), the reply text when you request a natural speech reply, and — if you also granted permission — the document image when you read a new document or price list; that image is passed to the Google Gemini API to be read (see section 4). To apply the free plan limits for these features, the server keeps a usage counter linked to your account and, if you subscribed, a store-verified subscription record (see section 4).

If you create a Mise account and use Community or Messages, the following is also stored on the server: your chef profile (including CV and portfolio), posts, comments, likes and follows, the community images you upload, your direct messages and — if you allowed notifications — your device's notification token. Only the two participants of a conversation can read its messages; there is no end-to-end encryption. All of it is permanently deleted when you delete your account from inside the app.

• A diagnostics log: for screen freezes longer than 0.5 seconds, only the screen name, the app's state, the duration and the time (last 30 entries). This log stays on the device; you can turn it off and clear it in Settings → Diagnostics, and Delete All My Data removes it. From version 1.0.2, if Send Diagnostics is on, the duration and screen name of the same freeze also go into the diagnostics record in section 4.

The three AI features below run only when you use them, and send only the text or image needed to perform the operation. Document reading and Mise Sous Chef require your Mise account session; the speech request also carries it when you are signed in. The server verifies your identity only to check your usage allowance and rate limits. No user identifier, email address or device identifier is sent to the providers below.

Mise Sous Chef komutları

Mise Sous Chef commands

Requires internet, a Mise account and Sous Chef consent. The sentence you typed (or spoke, transcribed to text) and the context of the draft you are working on (e.g. recipe name, ingredient names, quantities and units), together with the text of the most recent conversation turns shown on screen (up to 12), are sent through Mise's server to the Google Gemini API. Your sentence is also written to an anonymous question log (below).

Document and price list reading

If you allowed document reading, the page images are sent with your Mise account session and read with the Google Gemini API. This request is not anonymous: the server verifies your session for rate limiting; no user identifier is sent to Google.

Natural speech reply

Premium only. The reply text to be spoken is sent and returned as audio. Your own voice is never sent — this flow only turns text into speech. If natural speech is not configured on the server, no call is made.

These requests go to Mise's Edge Functions running on Supabase. Mise's own Edge Functions do not write request content to a database; document images and speech reply text are not stored. The only exception is the anonymous Sous Chef question log below. Only on a technical failure does a short error code and a truncated error string reach the server log; user text and tool results are not written there. The processing and retention terms of the providers below apply in addition.

To see which questions the app cannot answer yet and improve Mise, the sentence you write to Sous Chef, the chosen operation, the result, the language and the number of earlier turns in the conversation are written to a question log. This log holds no user ID, email address, device information or IP address; nobody can link it to an account. Entries are deleted after 90 days. The in-app Sous Chef consent says this.

Mise Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play; your payment and card details are processed by Apple or Google and never reach Mise. If you are signed in to your Mise account, the app sends the store's purchase record (the App Store's signed transaction or the Google Play purchase token) to Mise's server so Premium can be turned on for your account. This happens after a purchase or restore, and also for your active subscription when you open the app or sign in. The server checks that the record is genuine (on the App Store with Apple's digital signature, on Google Play by asking Google) and stores, linked to your account, only: the store; the subscription product (monthly or yearly); the expiry date; whether it was a test or a real purchase; a purchase key (the App Store original transaction ID; for Google Play a SHA-256 hash, not the token itself); the transaction or order ID of the current subscription period; on the App Store, the purchase date of that period; the time the record was signed by the store or read by our server; any cancellation or refund date and the transaction or order ID of the refunded period; and when the record was last updated. The period and time details are kept so that an older record arriving late cannot overwrite a newer one and a refund is applied to the right period. Price, currency, country and device details are not stored. The account ID in the purchase and, on Google Play, the hash of the previous purchase token are only compared, to link the purchase to the right account and to close the previous record; they are not stored separately.

Apple and Google notify our server when a subscription renews, is cancelled or is refunded, so the record stays current. If you resubscribe on Google Play outside the app, the notification links the new subscription to the account the previous one belonged to. Nothing is stored for a purchase that cannot be linked to any account. If you buy while signed in, your Mise account ID is passed to Apple or Google Play with the purchase so it can be linked to your account; Google Play may also use it to detect unusual purchase activity. If you buy without signing in, no purchase record is sent to Mise until you sign in. This record is used only to turn on Premium and to stop one subscription from being used on another Mise account; it is not used for advertising, profiling or tracking.

To apply the free plan limits (2 successful document reads per account for life, 20 Sous Chef messages per month), the server stores, linked to your account, the number of successful document reads, the number of verification reads and your Sous Chef message count for the current month. So that the same document is not counted twice, each document read keeps an allowance record: a document key (for a single request, a SHA-256 hash computed from the image bytes; for a multi-page document read page by page, the document session ID), the SHA-256 hashes of the page images read in a multi-page document, whether the read counted against the free allowance, and the time of the read. While you are on Premium this record is still kept for document reads but does not count against the free allowance; Sous Chef and verification reads are not counted on Premium. The image itself, the text of the document and the content of your Sous Chef messages are never written to these records; the image cannot be reconstructed from a hash. The app can read only your own remaining allowance numbers.

The chef profile you fill in on Community is stored on the server: display name, title, restaurant, city/country, years of experience, specialties, bio, profile photo, cover image, cuisine types, CV (career history, education, certifications, awards) and portfolio dishes (title, description, preparation time, photo). You choose profile visibility as Everyone or Followers only, and you can also mark the CV private. You can hide your restaurant and location. Users who have blocked each other cannot see each other's details. Your email address, phone number and portion costs are never sent to the server and never shown on the profile.

If you are signed in and allowed notifications, your device's notification token is stored on Mise's server, linked to your account. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs) on iPhone and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android. A notification carries only the kind of event (message, like, comment, new follower) and the other person's display name; message text and post content are never included. The token is deleted when you sign out and when you delete your account.

To find and fix errors, crashes and slowness, the app sends Mise's server a diagnostics record that carries no content. It contains: platform, app and operating-system version, device model, language; a random installation ID generated for this installation and a session ID; screen opening times (with the screen's name, in milliseconds), app launch time, the duration of screen freezes, a code for the kind of crash (from the operating system's crash report), error codes for document reading and Sous Chef; the session's start and last-seen time, time in the foreground, the number of screens opened, document read and Sous Chef message counts; the numbers of ingredients, recipes and documents on the device, device memory, Low Power Mode, thermal state and network type (Wi-Fi/cellular). If a unit price in a cost calculation looks implausible (for example below ₺0.50 or above ₺50,000 per kilogram), only that unit price's number is sent; the name of the ingredient, supplier or recipe is not. Recipe, ingredient and supplier names, document images and text, message and post content, location and advertising identifiers never enter this record. If you are signed in the record is linked to your account; if not, it carries only the installation ID. Records can be read only by an administrator through Mise's admin panel; they are not sold and not used for advertising, profiling or tracking across apps. Turn sending off under Settings → Diagnostics → Send Diagnostics (on by default); turning it off also deletes the records waiting on the device.

Report a Problem: the text you write under Settings → Report a Problem goes into the same record together with the device information above. Because you send it yourself, it is delivered even when diagnostics are off. Do not write passwords, card details or anyone else's personal information in it.

Speech recognition

To transcribe what you say. Where your device supports it this runs on device; otherwise Apple's speech recognition service is used and the audio is sent to Apple. To improve accuracy, a list of your own product names is attached to the recognition request as context; if recognition runs off device, those names go to Apple too. You see the text on screen while you speak; the command is sent when you tap Finish, and automatically after a short pause when voice conversation is on, when listening passes two minutes, or when recognition becomes unstable.

Notifications

To show reminders generated on the device (for example a price increase) and, if you are signed in, to receive Community and Messages notifications (message, like, comment, new follower). Remote notifications arrive through APNs and carry only the kind of event and the other person's display name (see section 4).

For data that stays on your device, processing is necessary for the performance of the contract (KVKK art. 5/2-c; GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) — it is what the app does. In the AI and speech features, text is processed because you start that feature; you may choose never to use them. For the Mise account, community, messages, chef profile and notifications, processing is necessary to provide the service you request by creating an account (KVKK art. 5/2-c; GDPR art. 6(1)(b)); the account is optional. The subscription record is kept to verify purchases and prevent abuse (KVKK art. 5/2-c and 5/2-f; GDPR art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f)). The diagnostics and performance record relies on our legitimate interest in keeping the app free of errors, fast and secure (KVKK art. 5/2-f; GDPR art. 6(1)(f)); you can turn sending off at any time. A "Report a Problem" text is processed at your request.

The providers above (Supabase, Google Gemini, ElevenLabs, Apple, Google Play, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Workspace, Vercel) may operate servers outside Türkiye. As a result, using Sous Chef, document and price list reading or natural speech transfers the relevant text or image abroad, and creating a Mise account transfers your account, Community, Messages and notification token data abroad. As long as you do not use those features or create an account, no data leaves your device.

• Camera / Photos — switch off under Settings → Mise on iPhone, or in the app permissions in system settings on Android. If you never use document reading, they are never requested.

• Notifications — switch off under Settings → Mise → Notifications on iPhone, or in the app's notification settings in system settings on Android.
• Spoken conversation — toggled in the app's own Settings and is off by default.
• AI features — you may never use Mise Sous Chef or AI document reading. As long as you do not use them and do not create an account, nothing leaves your device; costing, stock, recipes and orders work fully offline.
• Profile visibility — set your chef profile to Everyone or Followers only, mark your CV private, and hide your restaurant and location.
• Diagnostics log — turn it off and clear it under Settings → Diagnostics.
• Sending diagnostics (version 1.0.2 and later) — turn it off under Settings → Diagnostics → Send Diagnostics; records waiting on the device are deleted.
• Deleting your records — delete records one by one in the app, remove everything on the device at once with More → Settings → Delete All My Data, or delete the app. For your data on the server, see section 11.
• Making a request — for any privacy request write to support@misecost.com.

It stays on your device until you delete it; we hold no copy. Delete records individually, remove everything with More → Settings → Delete All My Data, or delete the app — iOS and Android remove the app's data along with it.

⚠️ If your iCloud backup is on, a copy of the app's data may exist in Apple's backup. That backup is under Apple's control; Mise cannot read it and cannot guarantee when it is removed. Manage it under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud.

Mise's Edge Functions process the request and return the answer; they do not write document images or speech reply text to a database. Sentences you write to Sous Chef are kept in the anonymous question log for 90 days and then deleted; because they cannot be linked to your account, they cannot be deleted one by one. On a technical failure only a short error code reaches the log.

The diagnostics and performance record and "Report a Problem" texts are kept for 180 days and then deleted; those linked to your account are deleted at once when you delete your account.

Your account, chef profile, Community and Messages data, subscription record and usage counters are kept until you delete them or delete your account. The notification token is deleted when you sign out. You can delete part of it in the app without deleting your account: posts (Delete Post), profile photo and cover image (Edit Profile → remove), CV entries and portfolio dishes (swipe to delete). For anything else, such as comments, likes, messages and follows, email support@misecost.com with the subject "Data deletion request". You can delete the whole account in the app (More → Mise Account → Delete My Account); details and what is deleted or kept are on the account and data deletion page.

The providers that process the text sent (Google, ElevenLabs, Apple) have their own retention periods, which are outside Mise's control. We do not state a period we cannot verify; each provider's own data processing terms apply. To avoid this uncertainty entirely you can choose not to use the AI and natural speech features — nothing else in the app depends on them.

Your data is kept in the app's protected storage (the iOS app sandbox, app-private storage on Android) and benefits from device encryption. Requests to the server are encrypted over HTTPS. Keys belonging to the AI providers are held server side only and are never embedded in the app.

13. Çocukların gizliliği13. Children's privacy

Mise profesyonel mutfak çalışanlarına yöneliktir ve çocuklara yönelik değildir. 13 yaşından (Avrupa Birliği'nde ilgili ülkenin belirlediği yaştan, en fazla 16) küçük kişilerden bilerek kişisel veri toplamayız.

Mise is aimed at professional kitchen staff and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the age set by the relevant EU member state, up to 16).

Under KVKK art. 11 you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information, to ask for correction or deletion and to object to processing. If you are covered by the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection.

Because your kitchen data stays on your device and an account is optional, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app; for deleting your data on the server see section 11 and account and data deletion. You may still write to support@misecost.com for any request; we respond within 30 days at the latest. You have the right to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority, or to your supervisory authority in the EU.

• Language preference — the language you choose (TR/EN) is kept in your browser's local storage under the key mise-lang. It is never sent to a server and is removed when you clear browser data.
• Fonts — the page loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Your IP address is transmitted to Google as part of that request. If you block the font, the site renders correctly with a system typeface.
• Server logs — the site's host (Vercel) may keep standard access logs for security and debugging.
• Visit counting — Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without tying them to an IP address. For each view, the page address, the referring site, campaign tags (for example utm_source), country and city, device type, operating system and browser are recorded for aggregated statistics. Visitors are counted with a hash derived from the request itself and discarded after 24 hours; it does not follow you across other sites or identify you. No data from the app goes there. The account, password reset, email confirmation and admin pages have no visit counting.
